11. Lore – Alexandra Bracken

One of my absolute favorite fantasy YA releases of 2021 is Lore by Alexandra Bracken!
The Agon happens every seven years. As a punishment for past rebellion, nine Greek gods live on earth as mortals. They are hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines who are all eager to kill one of the gods and take their divine power and immortality.
Years ago, Lore Perseous fled that world in the wake of the murder of her family by a rival line. For years she has pushed away thoughts of revenge against the man, now a God, who is responsible for their deaths. But two participants of the Agon seek out her help: Castor, her childhood friend, and Athena, one of the last of the original Gods.
Athena offers an alliance against their mutual enemy, and a way for Lore to leave the Agon behind forever. But the decision to bind her fate to Athena and rejoin the hunt comes at a deadly cost. It might not be enough to stop the rise of a new god who possesses the power to bring humanity to its knees.
